Intern Description for spring and summer term

Interns must be able to go door-to-door and conduct interviews with residents in targeted precincts. We provide walk literature and designated contacts for field work.

Interns must be able to maintain courteous conversation with targeted voters and take comprehensive notes of conversation while also directing exact questions for our micro-targeted voter campaign.

If willing to be a team leader, interns must have reliable transportation available at all times. Interns must sign a non-compete clause and confidentiality agreement.

All interns are required to maintain a regular schedule and most importantly be reliable.

Intern work includes attending events in the evening hours and representing the candidate at an array of functions.

FSU Law's Summer for Undergraduates Program

The 19th Annual Summer for Undergraduates Program will take place May 17-June 11, 2010. Applications will be accepted beginning October 1, 2009, and must be postmarked by Friday, March 26, 2010.

Overview
The Summer for Undergraduates Program at Florida State Law is the largest of its kind and has become a model for other law schools nationally. Approximately 60 undergraduate college students will be chosen from the applicant pool to participate in the four-week long program. During those four weeks, we focus on three main components:

•Classroom Experience — Daily classes are taught by law school professors and writing instructors. Lectures simulate first-year law classes and familiarize students with the functions of the American legal system. Writing workshops help students to develop their writing and communication skills.

•Law School Admissions Process — Students are given the opportunity to talk to the admissions staff and committee regarding the important aspects of the law school application process. This includes practical workshops on completing the application, writing personal statements, LSAT exam preparation, writing resume and cover letters, financing law school and individualized career planning.

•Careers in the Law — While the program is academic in nature, there are a number of exciting and enjoyable activities that take place outside of the classroom, such as: visits to the Florida Supreme Court and local law firms, moot court oral arguments, and visits from prominent attorneys in a variety of practice areas.


Eligibility
College students enrolled at two-and four-year institutions, in all majors and from all backgrounds, are invited to apply following their freshman year. We particularly welcome students from groups historically underrepresented in the legal profession. Because one purpose of the program is to help students direct their remaining time in college to best prepare for law school, freshmen, sophomores and juniors are given preference in the admissions process. Students who will have earned their degree prior to the start of the program will not be eligible for admission.


Program Costs
There is no tuition or room and board charge for this program. Florida State Law provides room and board in residence-hall accommodations, course materials and a $500 stipend to all participants. Students are responsible for their travel expenses to and from Tallahassee.

How to Apply
In order to apply, students must complete a two-page application for admission. Applicants are also required to submit a resume, two letters of recommendation, a personal statement and a current official transcript. Each application is carefully reviewed in its entirety by the program's admissions committee.

About the University Libraries Lance and Elena Calvert Award for Undergraduate Research

With the support of a generous endowment from Lance and Elena Calvert, the University Libraries Lance and Elena Calvert Award for Undergraduate Research recognizes excellence in undergraduate research projects that incorporate the use of University Libraries' collections and demonstrate sophisticated information literacy skills on the part of the undergraduate researcher. The award review committee considers the product of the research, but focuses on the research process: the demonstration of library research skills, adept use of library resources, and reflection upon the strategies utilized to investigate a research problem. Winners receive a cash prize and public recognition of their excellent work.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

• Be enrolled as a UNLV undergraduate student at the time of project completion.


• Have completed the research project under consideration for a credit course at UNLV during summer or fall terms 2009 or spring semester 2010.


• Agree to contribute to a display of their research during the year following receipt of the prize.

Project length will be dictated by the course instructor or project advisor who supports the application.

Projects in all formats are eligible including:

• Research paper or thesis


• Design portfolio


• Theater designs


• Fine arts performance (dance, music, etc. captured on CD or DVD) accompanied by program notes


• Creative work (writing, art in any format)


• Film


• Digital media

Criteria

Submissions will be judged based on how well they demonstrate the following:

• Sophistication, originality and/or unusual depth or breadth in the use of library collections, including, but not limited to, printed resources, databases, primary resources, and materials in all media


• Exceptional ability to locate, select, evaluate, and synthesize library resources and to use them in the creation of a project in any media that shows originality and/or has the potential to lead to original research in the future


• Evidence of developing an understanding of the processes of research and inquiry.

A panel composed of faculty, librarians, students, and staff will judge entries. Expectations for achievement will be commensurate with the applicant's class year and the requirements of the discipline.

Application Deadlines

All applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on April 15, 2010.

Award winners will be honored at a reception to be held in April 2010.

My name is Michael and I am a member of Phi Alpha Delta. I currently work for a criminal defense attorney. We will be hiring for the position of Legal Assistant and Office Receptionist. No office experience is required but applicants must have basic computer skills and their own vehicle.

This position entails making runs to the courthouse, setting client appointments and facilitating new client intake, collecting client payments, communicating client needs to office manager and attorney, keeping record of all client communication, maintaining client list, and making billing calls, as well as other tasks.

new program, The United States Meets Europe: A Forum for Young Leaders, which
will be holding a Weeklong Seminar in Berlin from June 29th - July 4th, 2009.

The United States Meets Europe: A Forum for Young Leaders has been designed
with the intention of bringing together young individuals (mid-later stage
students or young professionals with 2 years experience) from both sides of the
Atlantic in order for them to gain an insight into cultural diplomacy, exchange
ideas and experiences, and learn from influential figures already working in the
field. Participants will develop contacts on both a social and professional
level and participate in challenging discussions. The Forum aims to examine the
state of the American- European relationship today and to consider the role of
cultural diplomacy in supporting this relationship.
